আসলে এশহর হল বেবাক রাংতা-মোড়া এক উলিঝুলি পাগল।নিছক পাগল কি নিছক শহর নয় হে,এ এক বেশুমার রঙ্গ।সেদিন অনেক হেঁটেছি চৌরঙ্গী,পার্ক স্ট্রীট এ।অবশেষে সন্ধ্যে এল।নিউ মার্কেট এর উলটো দিকে তখন ভীষণ সবুজ ময়দান,রাস্তায় শান্দার ভিড়... আর আকাশে হয়তো মেঘ ছিল...
আমি নিস্পৃহ মাতালের মত বৃষ্টি খুঁজেছি আজ,তারপর ক্লান্ত গলির মোড়ে ফিরে এসেছি অনিবার্য্যতায়.. এতো তুমি জানোই,কত বছরের হাওয়ায় হাওয়ায় আমি খুঁজে ফিরেছি তোমার উপত্যকা......তোমার কফি-কাপ এ লেগে থাকা তোমার ঠোঁটের উষ্ণতা...তোমার অন্ধকার নিবিড়তম...বহু বহু দিনের পিছন থেকে সেই সব গলে যাওয়া সময়ের হাড়-মজ্জা ছুঁয়ে দিল আমার সোনাঝুরি বন...
